HDR rendering is an advisable tool since it improves the image quality without drawbacks in performance. HDR delivers a higher contrast-or larger color and brightness range-than Standard Dynamic Range (SDR), and is more visually impactful than 4K. Sure, having a 4k TV will make the color/contrast a bit sharper, but upgrading to a PS4 Pro will make a pretty noticeable difference in overall sharpness/fps rate/render speed. The PS4 Slim will not render games in 4k. You need to turn off HDR if you are going to be recording and posting, then turn it back on for regular play.1 If HDR looks worse, something is probably not configured correctly. Normally I have to fiddle with some brightness levels and/or black levels but on Days Gone, it’s perfect as is. This game’s HDR is one of the best, if not THE best I’ve seen. In the Video Output Settings menu, select Adjust HDR, and follow the on-screen instructions. On your PS4 go to Settings > Sound and Screen > Video Output Settings.
